At the quarterly press conference in the fourth quarter of 2025 and press meeting on the occasion of Binh Ngo Spring 2026 organized by the Ministry of Industry and Trade on the morning of January 29, Mr. Dang Hai Anh - Deputy Director of the Department of Oil and Gas and Coal - informed about the amount of oil discovered at the Hai Su Vang (HSV-2X) field at block 15-2, belonging to Cuu Long basin, about 65 km from the southern coast of Vietnam.
According to Mr. Dang Hai Anh, Murphy Oil of the United States is participating in oil and gas exploration activities at blocks 144-145 and 15-1, 15-2. Exploitation, exploration and search work in the past time has achieved positive results.
Regarding the oil reserves discovered at block 15-2, which is the Hai Su Vang field, belonging to the Mekong Delta, currently, Murphy Oil's subsidiary is the operating unit.
In 2024, Murphy Oil began drilling exploration wells at the Hai Su Vang mine, and in 2025 successfully drilled an appraisal well (a well drilled after detection) to assess the scale, reserves and exploitation capacity. With the results discovered, the Hai Su Vang mine is assessed to have great potential.
According to current regulations, investors are responsible for continuing to appraise the results and prepare reports on resources as well as reserves of oil and gas to report to competent authorities.
In Vietnam's oil and gas exploitation output, in 2025, oil exploitation reserves reached about 10 million tons, gas about 6 billion m3... along with newly discovered reserves at Hai Su Vang field, this is a very positive result.
To have accurate results, the Ministry of Industry and Trade has requested the investor to prepare a report to submit to competent authorities for consideration and appraisal. In the coming time, the Ministry of Industry and Trade will also coordinate with Vietnam Oil and Gas Group and relevant ministries and sectors to continue reviewing the results obtained to evaluate objectively and best.
Adding more information, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Sinh Nhat Tan also said that this is a very positive result for the energy sector. In the coming time, the Ministry of Industry and Trade will coordinate with units to appraise and specifically evaluate.
